Corporate - Dividend Announcement
BEL pays 147% final dividend

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Sept. 30 Bharat Electronics Ltd has declared a total dividend of 207 per cent for the year 2007-08.

It declared the final dividend of 147 per cent at the AGM on Monday.

This is in addition to a 60 per cent interim dividend made out in February this year.

The Chairman and Managing Director, Mr V.V.R. Sastry, said the company would increase the expenditure on R&D this fiscal, considering that 83 per cent of the 2007-08 turnover was from indigenously developed products. The spend is now over 5 per cent of the turnover.

He said capital expenditure, too, would be substantially increased from current levels.

BEL recorded a turnover of Rs 4102.54 crore and PAT of Rs 826.74 crore.

One per cent of the profit after tax would be earmarked for corporate social responsibility in health care, education, rural development, environment protection and conservation of resources.
