Samsung forays into system air-conditioner biz

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Sept. 30 Korean durables major Samsung India has announced its foray into the system air conditioner business by launching its DVM Plus III System AC line-up.

Samsung is introducing its advanced DVM Plus III line-up in modules of 8HP to 16 HP.

Thus, the Samsung System ACs, when arranged in different combinations of modules (8HP, 10HP, 12HP, 14HP and 16HP), can provide up to 64HP of cooling in the installed location.

Digital hybrid system

“The Samsung DVM III gives the highest coefficient of performance based on its Digital Hybrid System technology.

“This technology, which is a combination of digital vapour injection compressor, turbo intercooler and vapour injection, ensures the most energy-efficient operations in that particular capacity segment of system air conditioners,” said Mr R. Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India.

Price ranges

The outdoor unit of Samsung system ACs are priced in the range of Rs 2.10 lakh (8HP) and Rs 3.45 lakh (16 HP).

“We expect to notch up a 5 per cent market share of the system AC segment next year,” Mr Zutshi said.

Commercial range

In commercial air conditioners, Samsung has cassette-type air conditioners in the capacities between 1.5T and 4.0T and ducted ACs in the 3T-5.3T capacities.

The Samsung commercial AC range is priced in the range Rs 49,000 to Rs 1.02 lakh.

“We plan to further reinforce our commercial AC range with higher-capacity air conditioners in the first quarter of the year 2009,” Mr Zutshi added.
