Events Meet to focus on food safety Our Bureau Mumbai, Oct. 1 The country’s first-ever hands-on workshop and symposium on rapid methods and automation in microbiology scheduled to be held in Hyderabad during October 15-17 will be inaugurated by Mr Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister of State in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Organised by Kansas State University (USA) in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, the symposium will feature prominent speakers from academia, industry and government speaking on food safety issues that are important for all those involved with all aspects of food and food safety. Giving filipIndia is emerging as a major market for processed foods as rising incomes and changing lifestyles boost demand. Consumer awareness about food quality and safety is increasing too. In order to give further fillip to the sector, the Union Government has declared 2008-09 as Year of Food Safety and Quality. The symposium is paired with the opportunity to participate in a hands-on workshop conducted by Dr Beth Ann Crozier-Dodson whose is a global expert in rapid method education. More Stories on : Events
