Spot rubber rules flat

Aravindan

Kottayam, Oct. 1 Spot rubber closed unchanged on Wednesday. The market activities were in an extremely low key owing to Ramadan.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed flat at Rs 112 kg as on Tuesday. The rubber market will remain closed on Thursday on account of Gandhi Jayanthi.

The Japanese rubber futures made a firm start followed by a bounce back in oil futures. The prices went up further on short covering with the nearby contracts leading the way up.

But at the domestic front, the market failed to react in tandem with the global mood as most of the traders were in a holiday mood.

Futures recover

RSS 3 recovered partially at its October contract to ¥273.7 (Rs 120.65) from ¥262.7, November to ¥273.2 (259.6), December to ¥263 (252.8), January to ¥261.2 (250.8), February to ¥260.5 (251.1) and March to ¥260.8 (250.9) a kg at TOCOM.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 112 (112); RSS-5: 110 (110); ungraded: 105 (105); ISNR 20: 109 (109) and latex 60 per cent: 76 (76).
