Tea Tea prices dip at Kochi auction on weak demand Our Bureau Kochi, Oct. 1 With demand from blenders, exporters and inter-State buyers remaining subdued, prices fell at the Kochi tea auction. There was 8,03,000 kg of dust tea on offer at the auction. Prices of high priced CTC dust varieties fell sharply by Rs 10-18, mediums and below mediums were Rs 5-10 lower and orthodox high grown prices fell by Rs 5-8. Medium orthodox remained barely steady in a market where blenders and other traders operated with less strength. Best CTC dust quoted Rs 95-100, medium CTC was at Rs 82-95 and below medium ranged at Rs 75-88. High grown BOPD realised Rs 107-112 and medium BOPD fetched Rs 73-75. Leaf SaleThere was 291,000 kg of leaf tea on offer. Prices of orthodox medium and high grown varieties eased between Rs 3 and Rs 5. CTC which elicited some interest from major blenders remained steady and other CTCs fell by Rs 2-4. Exporters were not very active in the market and showed subdued interest in orthodox grades. Best Nilgiri varieties quoted Rs 105-130, medium orthodox was at Rs 90-110 and plain orthodox was at Rs 85-93. Best CTC leaf fetched Rs 85-95 and medium CTC quoted Rs 78-84. More Stories on : Tea
