Bangalore, Oct. 1 Samsung Mobile unveiled its mobile phone entertainer, Samsung Innova8, in the Indian market on Wednesday.

It has been designed for a “powerful mobile photography and multimedia experience”. The phone is “made for users who want to enjoy the best possible multimedia entertainment with their mobile phone.

With the 8-megapixel camera, pre-embedded 3D games, high-speed data connections, etc, users can experience the true benefits of mobile entertainment,” said Mr Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Mobile.

Priced at Rs 45,999, the ‘super phone’ comes with a 32 GB memory (16 GB internal and 16 GB MicroSD Card), 1200mAh battery, 3D surround sound supported by DNSe 2.0, 2.8-inch 16M colour LCD, WiFi connectivity, and A-GPS navigation. The phone comes with the Symbian operating system V9.3, Quad band, mobile blogging, and a business card reader, among other features.

Strengthening the Portfolio

The company recently beefed up its multimedia portfolio with the introduction of touch screen phones in the Indian market — Samsung TouchWiz (F 480) and Samsung Omnia. The launch of Innov8, the company believes, would strengthen their multimedia portfolio further, and according to Mr Dutt, this category is expected “to grow to around 40 per cent” of the company’s total product portfolio by the year-end.

Samsung also plans to enhance its mobile channel coverage this year from 55 per cent to 85 per cent of volume weighted coverage of market, and is in the process of growing its Samsung Mobile Privilege Partnership network.
