Science & Technology ISRO scientists win global award Bangalore, Oct. 1 The ISRO team, which successfully realised the PSLVC7 mission that launched Cartosat-2 and the team that deployed the Space Capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE-1), have been awarded the prestigious Team Achievement Award of the International Academy of Astronautics. The award was presented at Glasgow during the recent Academy Day organised as a part of the International Astronautical Congress, an ISRO release said. The tenth flight of the PSLV that took off from Sriharikota on January 10, 2007 launched four satellites - Cartosat-2, SRE-1, and two small satellites of Indonesia and Argentina. The winning team led by the PSLV-C7 Project Director, Mr N. Narayana Murthy, included Mr George Koshy, Mr M. Krishnaswamy, Mr A. Subramoniam. The ground support team was led by Mr S. K. Shivakumar, Director, ISTRAC. Mr P.S. Sastry, Director, Launch Vehicle Programme Office, coordinated the overall launch mission. The award created in 2001 has, in the past, been given to Hubble Space Telescope's shuttle team, the Solar Satellite Mission SOHO team and the Mir space station team. - Our Bureau More Stories on : Science & Technology | Awards & Honours | People
