Hyderabad, Oct. 2 Dr S. Chandrasekhar, Deputy Director, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), here has been selected for the National Academy of Sciences-Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award.

The award carries a memento and cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.

It is given in recognition of the contributions made in both applied and basic sciences related to medicinal chemistry, according to a press release from IICT.

Dr Chandrasekhar has helped in the development of eco-friendly processes for performing chemical reactions, economically viable routes for drugs and total synthesis of bioactive natural products.
