Samsung ropes in Bindra as brand ambassador

New Delhi, Oct. 3 Korean digital technology major Samsung India is gearing up for the festival season with a slew of new products.

The company, which has roped ace shooter Abhinav Bindra as its brand ambassador for its consumer electronics business, said it is aggressively widening its reach in the sec B and C cities even as it anticipates price hike in near term.

“Some measures like higher input cost and anti-dumping duty on colour picture tube import is affecting our bottomlines. We are growing despite inflationary pressures,” Mr Ravinder Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India, told reporters.

He said the company has been expanding its retail reach by widening the number of its retail outlets especially in the smaller towns and cities.

“Our channel expansion has grown by nearly 30 per cent. We will also be increasing the branch sales offices by from the present 20 to 50”.

New formats

Samsung India is also extensively tapping newer formats.

“We have tied up with a slew of new format stores.

“This will be an important revenue channel for us and we are strenthening our presence in the retail vertical,” he said, adding the company hopes to achieve a 8-10 per cent revenue from the vertical.

Asked if it a mulling another round of price hike, he said the company may look at it.
