Awards & Honours Genomic Pioneer awards Hyderabad, Oct. 4 The first Genomic Pioneer Award from India was given to Dr Srikanta Kumar Rath of the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow. The Hyderabad-based Ocimum Biosolutions has instituted the Genomic Pioneer Awards for outstanding work in genomic research. Announcing the award winners at the recently concluded International Human Genome Meeting here, Ms Anuradha Acharya, CEO of the company, said three awards for Asia-Pacific, Europe and India would be given annually. The first winner from Europe was Dr Sylvie Chauvaux of the Institute Pasteur, Paris, who specialised in molecular biology and has done pioneering work on Yesinia pestis, which causes plague. For the Asia-Pacific region the winner is Dr Juergen Pipper of the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology in Singapore, who is working on developing diagnostic tests for infectious/parasitic diseases. – Our Bureau More Stories on : Awards & Honours | Bio-tech & Genetics
