Tea Coonoor tea market witnesses correction P.S. Sundar Coonoor, Oct. 6 As the market was closed for Gandhi Jayanthi day, Sale No. 40 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) was extended to the weekend. Prices fell by Rs 5 on the average as market looked for correction with demand weakening at high bids. “CTC leaf market witnessed weak demand. Brighter liquoring sorts could be sold only by shedding prices by Rs 3-5 a kg. Better medium and medium grades lost Rs 5-6, but a fair amount of withdrawal occurred as sellers refused to lower prices beyond expected levels. Fannings lost Rs 3-4. Many plainer teas were withdrawn for want of bids. Prices of whole-leaf orthodox teas declined by Rs 5-7. Brokens lost Rs 3-5. Brighter liquoring CTC dusts shed Rs 3-4. Medium and better medium sorts lost Rs 4-5. Plainers could be sold only when prices shed Rs 5, still, there were withdrawals. Primary orthodox dusts eased Rs 5-7 with some invoices losing up to Rs 15. Leafy secondaries sold Rs 3-4 lower,” an auctioneer told Business Line. More Stories on : Tea
