Rural empowerment initiative

Kochi, Oct. 7

South Indian Bank has commenced a rural empowerment initiative in association with the Kerala Agricultural University. While the bank would provide the necessary finance, the university would impart the requisite skills and technology required for the sustainable development of agriculture. The project will be executed through an NGO, the Organization for Women Empowerment and Rural Development. Addressing the inaugural function, Mr S. Ramaswamy, Regional Director of the RBI, appreciated the disbursal of Rs 20,000 each to 129 beneficiaries at four per cent interest. Dr V.A. Joseph, Managing Director of the bank. presided over the function.
