E-Governance States - Tamil Nadu TN sets up committee for State Data Centre The Centre had approved the project at a cost of Rs 55.80 crore, spread over a period of five years. T.E. Raja Simhan Chennai, Oct. 9 The Tamil Nadu Government has constituted a committee to implement the State Data Centre under the National E-Governance Plan (NeGP) of Government of India. A few months ago the Centre had approved the project at a cost of Rs 55.80 crore spread over a period of five years. The IT Secretary will be the chairman of the committee. The members are Managing Director, ELCOT; Director of e-Governance and Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency; The State Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre; representative from the Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of India and a representative from the Integrated Finance, Division of DIT. The committee will meet every month to review the progress of the project and provide necessary guidance in this regard, according to a Government Order. The centre will aid the State in providing efficient electronic delivery of government to government (G2G), government to citizen (G2C) and government to business (G2B) services. The data centre will also acts as a Central Repository of the State’s data and provide functionalities such as secure data storage, online delivery of services, citizen information/services portal, State intranet portal, disaster recovery, remote management and service integration, the order says.
