Off-shore Development Cognizant opens delivery centre in Hungary Our Bureau Chennai, Oct. 9 Cognizant, the US-based provider of global consulting, technology and business process services, has opened its delivery centre in Budapest, Hungary. Early this year, it commenced its clinical data management (CDM) services in Budapest to AstraZeneca, a global pharmaceutical company. The centre will support Cognizant’s European customers with near-shore services in a similar time zone, leverage techno-functional and multilingual capabilities available in the region to service the IT and business process outsourcing needs of Global 2000 companies. It will also provide a base with local insights for Cognizant to service customers in Central and Eastern Europe, according to a press release issued by the Nasdaq-listed company that has large offshore development centres in India. In addition to AstraZeneca, the Budapest centre provides application development and maintenance services to a leading consumer products goods manufacturer, and system architecture and quality assurance services to a re-insurance firm. To add headcountThe centre currently employs about 55 professionals and Cognizant intends to take this number to about 250 by the end of 2009.
