Chidambaram leads team for Fund-Bank meet

New Delhi, Oct 9 The Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, is leading a high-powered delegation to the bi-annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington on October 13.

The meeting comes at a time when the global economy is battered by financial turmoil and many of the developed countries are close to or moving to a recession.

The delegation includes the Reserve Bank of India Governor, Dr D. Subbarao, Mr Ashok Chawla, Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Mr Arvind Virmani, Chief Economic Advisor in the Finance Ministry and Mr Madhusudan Prasad, Joint Secretary (Fund Bank) in the Finance Ministry.
