Tea Prices weaken at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau Kochi, Oct. 10 Prices of several tea varieties came under pressure at the Kochi tea auction. Fair amount of demand was witnessed from major blenders for CTC dust, while bolder CTC grades found favour with inter-State buyers. Domestic market players were fairly active at the dust auction. CTC leaf grades were absorbed by blenders and inter-State buyers. There was 9,97,000 kg of dust tea on offer which opened weak with prices of high-priced CTC varieties falling by Rs 6-10. Medium CTC varieties fell by Rs 2-3. Prices of medium bolder varieties appreciated as the sale progressed. Best CTC dust quoted Rs 92-105, medium CTC was at Rs 82-95 and below medium ranged at Rs 75-88. High grown BOPD was at Rs 100-117, while medium BOPD fetched Rs 68-80. Leaf SaleThere was 3,72,000 kg of leaf tea on offer where high grown orthodox broken and whole leaf grades quoted lower by Rs 3-7.
