Ship with 11-m draft enters Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Oct 10

A vessel, Nord Endeavour, with 11 metres draft carrying 51,000 tonnes of coking coal entered the inner harbour of the Visakhapatnam port at 4.25 p.m. on Friday, according to a press release issued by the Visakhapatnam Port Trust. The press release said that it was the first time that a vessel with 11 m. draft was entering the inner harbour, after the widening and deepening of the entrance channel at a cost of Rs 19 crore. In August, a vessel with 10.8 metres draft was navigated into the inner harbour. Nord Endeavour was first lightened at the general cargo berth in the outer harbour and then navigated into the inner one. - Our Bureau
