Spot rubber prices rule flat

Aravindan

Kottayam, Oct. 11 Domestic rubber prices finished almost unchanged on Saturday. The only looser was RSS 4 which slipped to Rs 83 from Rs 84 a kg on buyer resistance.

Being the weekend session there was no selling pressure in the main marketing centres the absence of global guidance. But the news that the revised quote from a leading tyre manufacturer was much below the prevailing levels at Rs 80 a kg for sheet rubber kept the grade under pressure during the session.

RSS 4 which was quoted at Rs 106 a kg on the previous weekend shed almost Rs 23 a kg during the week breaking through the Rs 100-mark on Tuesday. On the Tokyo Commodity Exchange rubber moved down to new lifetime lows in all six contracts.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 83 (84); RSS-5: 80 (80); ungraded: 75 (75); ISNR 20: 79 (79) and latex 60 per cent: 70 (70).
