More SABMiller brands for South

Hyderabad, Oct. 12

SABMiller India will be launching two new beer brands in the southern market soon. “We have just launched our new beer brand, Indus Pride, in Rajasthan and will also bring it to the South due to the popularity our other brands here,” Mr Apurv Nagpal, Director (Marketing), SABMiller India, told Business Line. Indus Pride is a 100 per cent malt-based beverage. In addition, its global brand, Peroni, which has been launched in Mumbai, Delhi and B angalore, would also be introduced in Andhra Pradesh. SABMiller has about 35-per cent share in the Indian beer market, he added.

On the increasing number of players in the segment, Mr Nagpal said the competition is growing only in the premium segment. “But this is not an issue as new market is being created for premium segment,” he added. Foster’s constitutes 85-per cent share in the premium beer category and has grown by more than 45 per cent in 2007-08. As a promotional campaign, it is launching ‘Royal Hyderabad’, a month-long festival with focus on food and music in some select outlets and restaurants in the city. This would commence on October 18. —
