Nano in Gujarat

Tata’s Nano car has finally found refuge in Gujarat. Its Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, believes in governance and not petty politics.

With confidence in his state’s people, he had offered Mr Ratan Tata the required land and other infrastructure facilities. Cutting all the red tape, he made decisions, quick and fast. He had thereby set an example of how quickly major decisions can be made and industries welcomed and facilitated.

What is possible by one Chief Minister should be by others. Instead, in many other states, local and foreign industrialists wait for years to get the final nod before they get started. In many cases, accusations and doubts about a clean deal and corruption charges are freely bandied about.

Instead of emulating the Gujarat Chief Minister, some others resort to nit picking. They all seem interested in stalling a good project for no good reason rather than helping those who have come to help. Politicians in power should learn to govern the state for the welfare of the people and not to enrich themselves.
