Gold drops by Rs 75

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Oct 13 Gold prices in the domestic market fell by Rs 75 to Rs 13,345 for 10 gm on Monday even as it gained $4.30 an ounce on the London Metal Exchange.

Pure gold was down by Rs 80 to Rs 13,405.

Gold prices, which scaled to a life-time high last week, may tumble further with the rupee expected to strengthen making the dollar-priced gold cheaper, said an analyst.

On Friday, gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (MCX) hit the life-time high of Rs 14,320 per 10 gm with the rupee touching at an all-time low amid massive stock market falls.

India’s festival buying for Diwali is expected to remain tepid with prices being seen as too expensive and not likely to give the metal a boost.

Silver was gained by Rs 100 to Rs 19,060 a kg.
