Hardware Atom processors on embedded platform Our Bureau Bangalore, Oct. 14 Intel India said on Tuesday its Atom processors would be available on its embedded roadmap. In India, the Atom processor family on the embedded roadmap includes the Intel Atom Z5xx family of processors as well as the Intel Atom processor N270 with the Mobile Intel 945GSE Express chipset. The embedded platforms can be used in devices such as vehicle infotainment systems, embedded handheld devices, digital signage, medical patient monitoring, and digital security and surveillance, Intel said. The company said it would provide a seven-year extended lifecycle support for this platform for embedded customers. These products come in a range of speeds, power dissipation and commercial temperature options. The seven year lifecycle support would make them ideal for applications such as wireless and WiMAX infrastructure, IP telephony, enterprise security applications among others, Intel said.Intel announced an embedded handheld appliance reference design that is targeted at portable appliances for areas including sales force automation, financial inclusion, inventory management and general point-of-service applications in restaurants and airports. It also announced an embedded security reference design meant for customers developing an automated security surveillance system for use in SMB settings.
