CAs’ global meet from today

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct. 14 As many as 225 chartered accountants from 75 countries are to participate in a four-day global conference beginning October 15.

These auditors represent member firms of the Nexia International, a global network of professional audit firms.

Besides deliberating the state of financial markets, the global conference would also discuss the role of audit firms in the events that led to the global financial turmoil.

The global conference would give an opportunity to showcase the strength of Indian financial system and also understand the cultural differences in the practices of audit firms from various countries, Mr Rajesh Chaturvedi, Managing Partner, Chaturvedi & Shah, told Business Line here.

Chaturvedi & Shah, which is the largest audit firm in India, is a member firm of the Nexia International network and is organising this conference.

Earlier in the day, the outgoing Chairman of Nexia International, Mr Gareth Pearce, called on the President of India, Ms Pratibha Patil.

This is the first time Nexia International is holding its annual conference in India. In 1998, it held its annual conference in Beijing.
