Hyderabad, Oct. 14 How do ordinary people achieve extraordinary things? Ms Deepa Misra of Talent Transformation, Wipro Technologies, says every one of us has the potential to achieve success like any other high achiever provided we are ready to work around a few things with zeal and commitment.

What is required first is to face the right direction and question ourselves whether we are treading the right path and having a focus in life, she told students of business administration at the St. Xavier’s P.G. College here.

The second thing that could help us get closer to achieving success is to do a candid self-appraisal. When we attempt to understand our strengths and areas to strengthen, we suddenly get a purpose in life to pursue and succeed, Ms Deepa Misra said in her talk organised by the BL Club.

It’s also very important to know that our attire makes an impact in influencing people around us. Normally, we dress in order to look our age or to even look younger! However the key to success is to always dress for the position we wish to acquire down the line. Doing so, gives us added boost in our gait and people around also are likely to take us seriously.

Referring to branding, she said a product normally sells by the brand that it has built for itself. And brand as we know gets created for the quality and customer satisfaction that it provides so that people get accustomed to it. Similarly, our attempt should be to create a brand for ourselves by creating a niche or mastering a skill that only we have a command over.

Quoting Nora Roberts, Ms Deepa said, “If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.”

We should take a cue from that advice and see that we never get stagnated in our careers and continue to brighten our future with new learning and faith in our abilities, she suggested.
