Work resumes at Hero Honda plant

New Delhi, Oct. 15

Hero Honda has said that normal work had resumed at its plant in Dharuhera after some of the casual and contract workers protested on Sunday. A company statement said, “Our plant at Dharuhera had normal operations on Wednesday, with most employees, including contract workers, reporting for work. As a precautionary measure, we had kept the plant closed for a day on Monday, after a few casual workers, with instigation from external unsocial elements, had staged a sit-i n with the objective to disrupt operations.” Workers were demanding wages be paid under the Haryana government norms for casual and contractual

employees. The company, however, claimed that they were paid more than the government norms. The Dharuhera plant has a capacity to produce

5,000 units a day.
