Promotions & Offers Variety - Sports States - Kerala Volvo race sponsorships to be finalised soon
Our Bureau Kochi, Oct. 16 Bangalore based real estate firm Puravankara Projects Ltd has been confirmed as one of the sponsors of the India Stopover of Volvo Ocean Race. Puravankara will be the Official Real Estate Partner of the Stopover Event. Discussions are progressing with other leading Indian business houses for sponsorships in other areas of the Stopover Event and the same will be finalised in the coming fortnight. Areas of sponsorships include marina, daily events during the stopover like boat race, fashion show and other celebrity events, Mr N. Ramachandran, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, said. The Volvo Ocean Race, which has already been flagged off from Alicante in Spain, would stopover at Cape Town, Kochi, Singapore, Oingdao in China, Rio de Janeiro, Bostan, Galway (Ireland), Goteborg and Stockholm before finishing at St Petersburg. The race will arrive at Kochi port on December 3 for rest and will be here till December 13, he said. Getting readyThe Race Village at Willingdon Island is getting ready to receive the corporate pavilions of international brands like Volvo and Ericsson who are the promoters and sponsors of the race and the racing teams. The pavilion materials are expected to arrive at the port by mid November, in about 100 containers, which will then be set up at the Race Village, he said. Preparations are also on for the exhibition of Indian brands, which is being set up at the Race Village in an area of 6,000 sq metres. Booking of stalls has already started and confirmations have started coming in from firms, including a yacht building company in West Asia, he added. The Chairman pointed out that efforts are going on a war footing at the port to complete the various works by November 15. The work includes a three-storeyed office and other structures being put up at an estimated cost of Rs 70 core. The port is extending the BTP jetty by about 150 metres from the existing 200 metres.
