JCB to make India equipment export hub

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Oct. 17 Construction equipment manufacturer JCB is in the process of stepping up exports from India while making it a regional hub for spares and machinery.

Part of the UK-based major, JCB India is in the process of completing its new plant at Pune and expansion at Ballabgarh. It is evaluating the feasibility of more construction equipment machinery for different uses.

Mr Arjun Mirdha, Executive Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, JCB India, said the expansion of the Ballabgarh plant near Delhi will be completed soon. The capacity will go up from 50 to 100 Backhoe loaders a day by December.

“This will allow us the flexibility to export to counties in the region. We are also evaluating options to export to more countries making India a regional hub for not just excavation and construction industry equipment but also other products from the JCB portfolio,” he said.

Addressing a press conference at the company’s dealership MGB here on Friday after launching the Liftall, a heavy duty crane designed for requirements in India, Mr Mirdha said the design centre in India has brought about the advantage of developing products that suit very specific Indian requirements.

The company recently completed the sales of over 75,000 machines.
