Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct 17 The Petroleum Secretary, Mr R. S. Pandey, has mooted formation of a nodal agency to facilitate talent development for the oil and gas industry in the country. He was addressing a brainstorming session in the capital on Friday, organised jointly by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), ONGC and Petrofed.

Mr Pandey said this ‘Nodal Agency for Oil & Gas’ (NAFOG) should consist of representatives from the industry, academia and government along with Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB). “This NAFOG needs to be suitably empowered, so that it functions effectively to develop skilled manpower for the Indian Oil & Gas sector”, he added.

Apart from creation of NAFOG, the Secretary also advised creation of a cell in his Ministry to support and process all relevant points where government actions are necessary by also involving the Ministries of HRD, science & technology and labour.
