AIBEA demands probe

Coimbatore, Oct. 19

The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has demanded a thorough probe into the functioning and financial affairs of ICICI Bank and its take over by the Government. “We demand the take over and nationalisation of ICICI Bank in the interest of its customers, investors and public,” the AIBEA General Secretary, Mr C.H. Venkatachalam, said. Stating that ICICI Bank’s admitted involvement in transactions with collapsed bank such as Lehman Bros created a scare about its strength in the minds of the public, he said “What they have admitted is probably not the whole truth. People have a different perception about the bank and the more the management dishes out assurance explaining its soundness, the greater is the doubt and suspicion.”
