Geometric net rises

Pune, Oct. 20

Geometric Ltd, provider of engineering services and product lifecycle management solutions and technologies, has recorded a total income of Rs 65.30 crore for the quarter ended September 2008. For the previous fiscal, it was Rs 50.67 crore. Pofit after tax was Rs. 8.87 crore (Rs 5.16 crore). Dr Ravi Gopinath, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said the company had registered an operating profit of Rs 13.64 crore for the quarter as aganst Rs 7.07 crore recorded during the first quarter of the current fiscal.

He noted that it had recorded consolidated operating revenue of Rs 152.59 crore compared to Rs 140.4 crore, a sequential increase of 3.8 per cent in dollar terms and 8.7 per cent in rupee terms. In year-on-year terms, revenues increased by 13.5 per cent and 24.6 per cent in dollar and rupee terms respectively.

Dr Ravi noted that “operating profit margin improved from five per cent in the previous quarter to 8.9 per cent in this quarter, helped by a favourable exchange rate, increase in offshoring across businesses, and a tight control on our SG&A expenses. While our direct exposure to the BFSI sector is nil, there is a noticeable associated slowdown in our key verticals. Our go-to-market strategy founded on driving business-oriented solutions has enabled us to achieve profitable growth despite the prevailing economic conditions.” –
