Education States - Tamil Nadu Curtin varsity targets Indian students Chennai, Oct. 20 Curtin University of Technology, an Australian Government funded university, is to set up a campus in Singapore. According to Mr Jeremy Histon, Director of Marketing, Curtin Singapore, the new campus will be operable from end of this year and open to international students from March 2009. However, the varsity has been delivering programmes through its partners in Singapore for over 20 years. Says Mr Histon, Curtin Singapore will initially offer Curtin Business School cour ses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Over a period, other programmes from other faculties will be developed and delivered depending on student demand. Curtin is expecting at least 50 students from India for the first academic year, said Mr Histon. Elaborating on the benefits of studying in Singapore rather than in Australia, he said besides one can finish some of the programmes in a shorter duration (2 years instead of 3 years in Australia), even the fee structure is more affordable (over 20 per cent lesser). The programmes offered in the first year will be accounting and finance, marketing, human resource, international supply chain and logistics management.
