Health States - Maharashtra ‘Informed population main growth driver in health industry’ Our Bureau Mumbai, Oct. 21 As the general population in India is becoming more informed and their expectations are raising, the USP creation has become a challenge for private hospitals and positioning is playing a key role, said Mr V.P. Kamath, CEO, Apollo Hospitals. He was speaking at the corporate seminar – Servearthan - organised by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) here. Secondary care market in the country is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11 per cent. Cardiac care market will grow at a CAGR of 13 per cent to touch $4 billion by 2012, he said. Growing population, rising income, urbanisation, increasing diseases and increasing accessibility to healthcare insurance are the main drivers of the Indian healthcare industry, said Mr Anil Kamath, Managing Director, Wockhardt Hospital. The budget and economy hotels are resilient to global events more than their counterparts in the luxury, first-class and mid-market segment has been proved in the effect of 9/11, said Mr Prabhat Pani, CEO, Ginger Hotel.
