Compensation for crop loss

Madurai, Oct. 21

The Tamil Nadu Government has plans to distribute Rs 267.62 crore to affected farmers as compensation for crop loss under the crop insurance scheme, according to the Agriculture Minister, Mr Veerapandi S.Arumugam. Addressing the farmers at the distribution of crop insurance relief under National Agricultural Insurance Scheme held at Aruppukottai recently, near here, the Minister said the scheme was earlier confined to farmers who had availed themselves of loans from banks and now, it has been extended to those who have not availed such loans.
