BSNL pays Rs 1,200 cr dividend

New Delhi, Oct. 21 Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has paid Rs 1,200 crore to the Government as dividend. This payment comprises Rs 525 crore as dividend on equity capital and Rs 675 crore as dividend on preferential capital for 2007-08. This is in addition to an interim dividend of Rs 300 crore already paid to the Government on equity capital thus making the total contribution of Rs 1,500 crore.

The company conducted its eighth annual general meeting in which the financial results of the company were approved by the shareholders according to which BSNL has earned a total income of Rs 38,053 crore and the profit after tax was Rs 3,009 crore for 2008-09.
