Human Resources States - Karnataka Common cadre and recruitment rules for Karnataka city corpns Our Bureau Mangalore, Oct. 21 Karnataka will have common cadre and recruitment (C&R) rules for seven city corporations in the State, said the Karnataka Urban Development Minister, Mr Suresh Kumar. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, he said that apart from Bangalore City Corporation, all the other seven city corporations will have common C&R rules even for lower rung officials. There will be inter-corporation transfers for them. The rules are being formulated in this regard. Referring to the shortage of staff in city corporations, he said steps will be taken to fill up vacancies in city corporations by the end of December. With the city corporations witnessing growth over the years, there is a need for some additional posts in some areas. Such posts will be identified and filled up, he said. Considering the complaints on the poor quality of works by contractors in some of the city corporation areas, move is afoot to make the contractors responsible for the maintenance of such works. Those who are given contacts should maintain it for three years. There is a proposal to hold back 25 per cent of the EMD (earnest money deposit) of the tender amount till that period. This will help ensure quality of the work by contractors, Mr Kumar said. To ensure continuous water supply to city corporations in the State, the Government has already initiated 24x7 water supply system in seven-eight wards in Hubli, Belgaum and Gulbarga city corporations on a pilot basis. Such a pilot project will also be initiated in Mangalore. Stressing the need for an effective grievance redressal cell in city corporations, Mr Kumar said Mysore City Corporation accepts grievances through SMS. More Stories on : Human Resources | Karnataka
