BOC India to invest Rs 250 cr

Kolkata, Oct. 26

BOC India will invest Rs 250 crore in ongoing projects in India within March 2009, according to Mr Sanjiv Lamba, Managing Director of south & east Asia, Linde Gas Asia Pte Ltd. Linde Group has a controlling stake in BOC. Among the projects identified for investment are 1,800-tonne-a-day industrial gas plant at Jindal Steel Works at Bellary which is slated to be commissioned by end of this year. He was addressing a press conference announcing the appointment of Mr Sriku mar Menon as the new Managing Director of BOC India. Commenting on the business outlook, Mr Lamba said while any crisis in the basic manufacturing sector – especially steel sector – may hit the industrial gas business, BOC India had not faced any such slow down in demand outlook till date. “If we compare with other south Asian markets, India and Vietnam appear more stable,” he said.—
