‘Farmers should take advantage of technology’


‘The DRR would be ready to offer any kind of technical assistance to the farmers.’

Hyderabad, Oct. 26 The farmers should take advantage of new technologies to increase the production and quality of grains, according to Dr B.C. Viraktamath, Product Director, the Directorate of Rice Research (DRR), Hyderabad.

Addressing the farmers on the occasion of ‘Farmers’ Day’ observed by the institute here on Saturday, he said the DRR would be ready to offer any kind of technical assistance to the farmers.

“You can knock the doors of DRR for any sort of technical help or solutions for your filed problems in the rice production,” Dr Viraktamath said.

Participation

Dr K. Krishaniah, former director of DRR and chief guest for the occasion, called upon the farmers to be abreast of technological developments in the agricultural research and use them for their benefit.

Over 800 farmers from various villages participated in the celebrations and visited a number stalls set up by the institutes such as Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, National Research Centre for Sorghum, Directorate of Oilseeds Research, National Seeds Corporation of India and several agro input agencies in an exhibition arranged to mark the occasion, according to a release.
