Tea Web Extras - Commodity Markets CTCs turn dearer at N. India tea auctions Our Bureau Kolkata, Oct. 28 Last week, good liquoring CTC teas at North India auctions sold at firm to dearer rates, according to tea auctioneers. Selected medium and plainer sorts, however, were irregularly lower. There were active inquiries from major blenders and Tata Tea with fair support from other packeteers. Western India dealers operated for the liquoring categories while there was a fair enquiry from other internal sections. Export buyers operated primarily for larger brokens and fannings. The Darjeeling tea auction witnessed good demand at easier rates for all categories. Traditional exporters and packeteers operated. There was selective enquiry from the UK/Continent with some support from local dealers. In the orthodox sale, whole leaf and bolder brokens eased in value. Selected well made smaller brokens were barely steady. Fannings were steady on last levels. West Asian and CIS shippers were the mainstay of the market with active support from the major blender. CROP Post Puja leaf intake continued to be good following better cropping conditions. INTERNATIONAL The Mombasa market saw selected liquoring categories selling well while the majority eased in value. Pakistan packers and Kazakhstan were active with maintained support at lower levels from Egyptian packers, Yemen and other West Asian countries. Sudan was less forceful while Afghanistan maintained interest. The Bazaar was outbid with less activity from the UK and Russia. The Egyptian Government buying was subdued while Somalia was active at lower levels. The Colombo auction witnessed less demand at easier rates for all sorts with some withdrawals. CIS exporters were the mainstay with selective support from other exporters. More Stories on : Tea | Commodity Markets
