Spot rubber rules weak

Aravindan

Kottayam, Nov. 1 Rubber prices finished weak on Saturday. The declines in TOCOM rubber futures in the weekend session kept the domestic sentiments under pressure even after a day and sheet rubber RSS 4 slipped marginally to Rs 88.25 from Rs 87.50 a kg on Friday.

Meanwhile, ungraded rubber closed unchanged for the fourth cosecutive day on better enquiries. According to market circles, certain major manufacturers were buyers on sheet rubber at Rs 87 a kg during the session. Though the growers sidelined the market, most of the selling came from traders following fears on further dip in prices. Anyhow RSS 4 which has been traded at Rs 88 a kg on early this week shed 75 paise to close at the prevailing level amidst comparatively low volumes.

Spot rates were: RSS-4: 87.25 (87.50); RSS-5: 85 (86); ungraded: 81.50 (81.50); ISNR 20: 83 (84.50) and latex 60 per cent: 60.50 (61.50).
