Railways States - Andhra Pradesh Rlys to give priority to AP projects Our Bureau Visakhapatnam, Nov. 2 Railway projects in Andhra Pradesh, and the Visakhapatnam area in particular, will be given priority and all attempts will be made to complete them on schedule, according to Mr K.C. Jena, Chairman of the Railway Board. Mr Jena visited the city on Friday and reviewed the progress of rail projects with officials and others. He also visited the Visakhapatnam port, Gangavaram port and the Visakhapatnam steel plant. He said that as Visakhapatnam area, with two ports and several industrial projects coming up, was one of the most important in the country and, therefore, the railways would give due importance to improving infrastructure and connectivity. The railways would be a key partner in spurring the growth of the area and zone, he said. He laid the foundation stone for the electric loco drivers training school at Marripalem station. He also discussed the operational constraints on the KK (Kothavalasa-Kirandul) rail line, crucial for the transport of iron ore from the Bailadilla mines to Visakhapatnam port. Mr D. Kamilla, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair division, and Mr A.K Goyal, General Manager of the East Coast Railway, participated in the discussion.
