Madurai, Nov. 3

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has auctioned Rs 25 lakh to weavers of the Madurai Sungudi saris for establishing a ‘tie and dye’ cluster. The allotment would enable the setting up of a common facility centre, procurement of modern equipments and conducting design workshops, under the National Programme for Rural Industrialisation. According to Mr R. Srinivasan, Assistant General Manager, Nabard, the first instalment of Rs 8.35 lakh has been released, of which Rs 6.35 lakh would go towards construction of the common service centre and another Rs 5 lakh would be spent in purchasing modern equipment.
