Graphite India sees 45% growth

Kolkata, Nov. 4 Graphite India reported Rs 403.33 crore of income from operations during the quarter to September 30, 2008, which represented 45 per cent growth on pervious year's corresponding quarter figure of Rs 277.99 crore. Net profit growth, however, was muted at 25 per cent. Its net was Rs 47.65 crore against Rs 37.95 crore in the second quarter of 2007-08. It suffered a loss of Rs 26.05 crore on account of foreign exchange fluctuation. Generation of power at the company's hydel plant in Karnataka had not been satisfactory owing to paucity of rains in the catchments area. - Our Bureau
