FICCI setting up mechanism to interact with Government panel

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Nov. 4 FICCI is setting up a task force to work with the high-level committee announced by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, yesterday which will address the current economic situation, the FICCI President and MP, Mr Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said today.

Mr Chandrasekhar, who participated in the government industry deliberations, called by the Prime Minister yesterday, said that "FICCI is creating a group that will engage with all regional and other trade organisations covering SMEs and exporters, and this group will interface with the government committee to seamlessly communicate challenges of SMEs/exporters in addition to other industry sectors"

Commenting on the constitution of the committee, Mr. Chandrasekhar said that the committee would see representation from senior officials from chambers of commerce, industry associations, exporters, small, medium and large enterprises affiliated to FICCI.

The committee would have representation from all regions of the country and from all major industry groups.

Through its nationwide network of chambers of commerce and associations, FICCI will mobilise inputs to this task force for interacting with the panel.
