New Delhi, Nov. 4 Luxottica Group, which is into design, manufacturing and distribution of premium fashion and luxury eyewear, on Tuesday outlined its plans to enter the Indian retail market by opening over 100 ‘Sunglass Hut’ stores at high-end malls and premium retail locations. Luxottica would open the stores through a franchising agreement with Delhi-based DLF Group.

Sunglass Hut, one of Luxottica’s retail brands and a premium eyewear chain, would launch its first India-based store this month.

“On the one hand, it allows us to become a key player in one of the most promising retail markets for premium and luxury brands working side-by-side with the leading real estate company in the market. At the same time, it is an opportunity to further strengthen the positioning of our key brands, with an expected benefit for our entire business in that market,” Mr Andrea Guerra, chief executive officer of Luxottica Group, said.
