Longest bridge: Work is in progress for the elevated rail bridge being constructed by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd for the Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal in the city. The length of the elevated bridge is 4.62 km and once completed, it will be the longest railway bridge in Indian Railways. The RVNL is executing the rail connectivity with a total length of 8.86 km between Vallarpadam and Edappally. The total cost of the rail project is Rs. 246 crore.
