Economy CMIE to collect data for IIP Our Bureau New Delhi, Nov. 5 The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has been authorised by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) to collect production data from industrial units on its behalf for compiling the new series of Index of Industrial Production (IIP), an official release said here today. The DIPP and the CMIE have entered into an agreement for this which also stipulate that the CMIE would ensure the safety and confidentiality of the corporate information so collected and it would not make public or reveal to any person or organisation other than DIPP, the information it collects from industrial units. Production data relating to 209 products is compiled by DIPP for the IIP. The remaining data is collected by the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) from other agencies. The IIP is generated by the CSO based on the data provided by the various source agencies. The DIPP is the single largest source of data for the IIP. The CMIE, through its nationwide branch network, will now collect data on these products to facilitate early release of the new IIP series, the release added. More Stories on : Economy
