Cabinet nod for Rs 381-cr dredging at Kochi port

New Delhi, Nov. 6 The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its nod for undertaking capital dredging at Vallarpadam in Kochi port at an estimated cost of Rs 381.25 crore.

This will deepen and widen the approach channel and berth basin of International Container Transshipment Terminal to provide draft of 14.5 metre at Vallarpadam in Kochi port. This will include a grant-in-aid of Rs 297.42 crore by Government and loan assistance of Rs 83.83 crore.

The project will be executed by Cochin Port Trust, an autonomous body under Department of Shipping.
