CII-Exim Bank awards

Bangalore, Nov. 6 A financial services company with a focus on microfinance was among the ten small and medium businesses (SMBs) which coveted the inaugural CII-Exim Bank awards announced here on Thursday.

Ten SMBs were honoured with Commendation for Strong Commitment to Excel award while four others were given the award for significant achievement at the CII-Quality Summit here.

The award, consisting of four-layer honours of ‘Award’, ‘Prize’ and commendations for ‘Significant Achievement’ and for ‘Strong Commitment to Excel’ were instituted 16 years ago.

Tin Plate India Company India Ltd had the distinction of winning the prize this year. Only six large companies have so far won the ‘Award’, the highest honour for achieving ultimate excellence. Tata Steel, TCS, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Infosys and Hewlett-Packard India were the winners of the top honours.

This year, 35 large organisations conformed to the criteria to be named the winners of the bottom two awards of Strong Commitment to Excel and Significant Achievement.

Assessment

Mr N. Kumar, Past President, CII and Vice Chairman of Sanmar Group said the companies had to go through rigorous assessment process by a panel of judges to prove their processes and products conformed to the jury panel’s scrutiny.
