Mixed trend in spot rubber

Aravindan

Kottayam, Nov. 8 Spot rubber showed a mixed trend on Saturday. The market activities were almost neutral and sheet rubber closed flat at Rs 85 a kg amidst narrow volumes.

Meanwhile, RSS 5 and ISNR 20 lost 50 paise on scattered transactions in a rather dull trading session. The market which opened on a steady note quoting RSS 4 at Rs 87.25 a kg on Monday improved by 50 paise to Rs 88 a kg on Tuesday. But selling from dealers and growers dominated the market in the succeeding days amidst sharp declines in international indices. Major manufacturers maintained their quotes always at the lower side during the week as the market seemed to be moving under the control of bears.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 85 (85); RSS-5: 82.50 (83); ungraded: 80 (80); ISNR 20: 81 (81.50) and latex 60 per cent: 58.50 (58.50).
