Tuticorin port export awards

Madurai, Nov. 9

The Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Mr T.R. Baalu, presented the ‘Best Export Awards’ to exporters and users of Tuticorin Port, at a function organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Tuticorin. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the exports achieved 24 percent growth last year. Port capacity in the country achieved a growth of 532 million tonnes and by 2011-12, the capacity enhancement is expected to be around 1. 5 billion tonnes. Major ports in the country would undertake 24 more projects in the next two years, he added. —
